Your stay
Enjoying and relaxing in an unaffected countryside on a high level – offering that is the intention of the “Weinlodge” which was built in 2010 by the winery Zuschmann-Schöfmann whose owners, Else and her husband Peter are eager to unite tradition and modern elements harmonically. An genuine wine tavern, carefully and individually designed apartments and a well-equipped seminar room are provided by the family.
The “Weinlodge” is situated in Martinsdorf in the northeast of Vienna about 20 minutes away from the town border in the so-called Weinviertel. Originally the winery also included mixed farming as many Austrian wineries did. Else and Peter concentrated on wine growing and contributed all their love and intuition into high quality production. In 2014 their 16 hectares of vineyards will be certified as organically cultivared areas.
Their main variety is the “Grüner Veltliner” which is typical for the Weinviertel. The brand “Brünnerstrassler” with a very fresh and lively note is made of it. There are also fruity and monumental wines like “Muschelkalk vom Plesslberg” and “Löss vom Ralessen” depending on the different soils as well as red wines. The young, dynamic couple recommends three of them: A mild, mature Zweigelt, an elegant Pinot Noir and a full, delicate Cuvée called Zerberus.
Quality is not only the outstanding goal in the vineyards but also in the tavern´s kitchen. The top cook and wine academic Peter Schöfmann claims to combine homemade first class meals with best according wines. His wife Else Zuschmann-Schöfmann who inherited the winery and studied wine growing at the vinicultural high school in Klosterneuburg, takes care of the guests and visitors in an attentive and charming way.
