Description
The 336-meter-high Gaisberg, also called Geißberg, is the local mountain of the municipality of Straß im Straßertal. The southeasternmost foothill of the Manhartsberg is considered the "top site" of Straß, excellent Grüner Veltliner and Rieslings thrive here. Located only 40 minutes by car from Vienna, the region invites you to wine tastings, hikes or simply to unwind.
Viticulture has a centuries-old tradition here, so there are numerous farms that have been successfully managed for several generations.
Tips in the area
- The winegrowers of the region present themselves together in the Vinothek Weinkontraste in Straß im Straßertale. Here the wines can be bought ex-farm.
- Surrounded by vineyards is the hotel Eisenbock's Strasser Hof. The hotel invites you to stay here for a few days, or for a culinary break after a hike in the vineyards.
