Hegerberg - Hohenberger Höger
Mountain summit
Description
The rarely visited Hohenberger Höger - also: Hohenberger Hegerberg - in the Gutenstein Alps rises to a stately 1,179 meters about 30 kilometers from Sankt Pölten. Together with its rocky neighbor, the Reisalpe, it forms the Reisalpe-Hegerberg group. At the same time, as part of the main Alpine ridge, the forested mountain is the district border between Lilienfeld and Neunkirchen.
The striking wedge shape of the Hohenberger Höger is striking. Unmarked forest roads and paths characterize the quiet mountain, which rewards its rare hikers with particularly beautiful views: at the summit, the view extends to the Jochart, at the southwestern and southeastern ridge to the Gutensteiner and Türnitzer Alps as well as to the Ötscher.
