Jauerling

Description
The Jauerling is a popular destination for excursions, with a height of 960 meters it is the highest elevation and the local mountain of the Wachau. On the mountain there is a transmitter and a lookout, it offers a unique panoramic view from the Danube valley over the Dunkelsteinerwald to the Alps.
Hiking at the Jauerling
Well signposted hiking trails, the World Heritage Trail and the Jauerling-Wachau Nature Park invite you to go hiking.
One of the numerous tours on and around the Jauerling is the Jauerling Gipfelrunde. The starting point for this is at the Naturparkhaus parking lot. The trail includes 10 different stations.
Winter on the Jauerling
In winter, the Jauerling invites you to winter sports in addition to great winter walks, because on the eastern slope of the Jauerling is the small ski area ski lift JAUerling with floodlights.
There is also a public road leading to the mountain, so it is easy to reach by car or motorcycle. There are enough parking places.
Tips in the surroundings
- The 38-meter high Jauerling Warte at 960 meters above sea level, one of the highest points on the entire Danube course.
- The hiking destination Hans Pichler-Naturparkhaus on the Jauerling at 915 meters attracts with one of the most beautiful viewpoints along the Danube and spoils with regional dishes.
