Leopold Figl Lookout Tower
Lookout tower, Outdoor adventure, Scenic lookout
Description
The lookout tower was built in 1966 to 1967 by famed Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister and is situated on the Tulbingerkogel at an elevation of 494 m.
The Tulbinger Kogel (494 m) is the highest point in the Tulln district. It is about a ten minute walk from the Berghotel Tulbingerkogel. The view from it extends all the way to the Alps and the Danube.
A wooden lookout tower on this site was cut down by the German Wehrmacht in the Second World War. In 1967 a new concrete lookout tower was erected and named after Leopold Figl, former foreign minister and chancellor. It has always been a magnet for hikers and walkers.
