Description

The 1,004 meter high Lunzberg is located in the municipal area of Lunz am See. From the summit, hikers can enjoy a view of the mountain village of Lunz am See with its numerous hiking routes.

Hike to the Lunzberg

From the village center, it is about a half-hour walk to the summit cross at about 1,000 meters above sea level. Members of the Landjugend have revitalized the place, installed new benches, repaired the paths and renovated the cross. In addition, a display beehive at the lookout point offers exciting insights into the life of bees. A display board with a wealth of information was also erected here by the Lunz Beekeepers' Association.

Tips around the Lunzberg

  • The highest point in the municipality is the 1,878 m high Dürrenstein. Other important peaks in and around Lunz am See are the Ötscher (1,893 m), Hochkar (1,808 m) Maiszinken (1,075 m).
  • Hikers will find refreshment in the crystal clear Lunzer See, incidentally the only naturally formed lake in the province.
  • During the summer months, visitors are offered a rich cultural program on the lake stage. The festival wellenklaenge leads the colorful round of events that transforms the tranquil village into an interesting art and cultural center.
  • The 55 km long heart of the Ybbstalradweg is located between Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Lunz am See. This section is particularly suitable for families. River cycling along the Ybbs to the mountain lake in the midst of magnificent nature.
