Naturpark - Die Wüste Mannersdorf
Outdoor adventure
This business is excellent…
Description
At the foot of the Leitha Mountains lies the Mannersdorf Desert Nature Park - an idyllic destination for walkers, hikers and mountain bikers. Opened in 1986, the area extends over 115 hectares and is surrounded by a 4.5-kilometer-long, heart-shaped wall. The mixture of varied landscape and historic buildings makes the nature park a special experience.
History and sights
The name “desert” goes back to an imprecise translation of the Greek word “eremos” (hermitage). In the 17th century, the Carmelite monastery “St. Anna in der Wüste” was founded here, which today serves as a venue for events. Also worth seeing are the “Old Gate”, the Leopold Chapel and the mystical Scharfeneck castle ruins.
Recreation and nature experience
Since 2015, a themed trail has led through the nature park, which is accompanied by the philosophical thoughts of Marcus Aurelius. In addition, the Maria Theresa circular hiking trail and the Emperor Franz Josef circular hiking trail invite you to enjoy nature in peace.
The Mannersdorf Desert Nature Park combines nature, history and relaxation - a place that invites you to discover and linger.
