Description

»MEINE ARBEIT SOLL EINE SCHULE DES LEBENS, DER WAHRNEHMUNG UND DER EMPFINDUNG SEIN.« Hermann Nitsch

On the occasion of Hermann Nitsch’s 75th birthday 2013, the nitsch museum in Mistelbach, Lower Austria, pays tribute to his lifework by staging a comprehensive retrospective. The artist’s own credo “My work is to be a school of life, of perception and feeling, and it is to be experienced with each of the five senses,” serves as key statement for the exhibition’s conception. It focuses on the five senses’ significance in the artist’s œuvre, which since the late 1950s has revolved around the OM Theatre (Orgien Mysterien Theater).
