Reisalpe
Mountain summit, Scenic lookout
Description
One of the most beautiful vantage points in Lower Austria is the peak of the Reisalpe, which rises almost 1,400 m in the Gutenstein Alps - between Lilienfeld, Kleinzell and Hohenberg. The flat and unwooded summit offers an unparalleled panoramic view: in good weather, the view extends over the Tote Gebirge and Traunstein, Hochschwab, Rax, Schneeberg and Ötscher as far as the Danube valley.
The ascent for hikers is possible via various starting points. The well-marked Weitwander-Voralpenweg leads over the summit ridge of the Reisalpe. At the summit a summit cross on the one hand, on the other hand a Madonna welcomes the hikers. The statue of the saint was donated by an entrepreneur in gratitude for an experienced rescue from danger.
From May to August (except Tuesdays) and from September to October, the Reisalpen-Schutzhaus invites you to enjoy its culinary delights - and, if you book in advance, you can also stay overnight in a rustic and comfortable atmosphere.
