Description
The eventful history of the spa resort of Baden from the Neolithic Age to the time of the Romans, the epoch of castles and knights up to the 20th century is documented on an area of 350m² . Special emphasis is put to the heyday of Baden in the Biedermeier period, when the emperor and his family spent their summer holidays and politicians and distinguished artists met in the spa resort.
The heart of the collection dates back to Anton Franz Rollett (1778-1841), a physician, writer, natural scientist and art lover from Baden. The "exotic" collections (Egyptian Department, Skull Collection of Dr. Gall, Ethnological Collection and much more), which still date back to Rollett's ideas of a universal museum, form their own exhibition complex.
