Seiber
Mountain summit
Description
The Seiber is located on the north bank of the Danube in Weißenkirchen. The mountain road up the Seiber, colloquially also called "Seiberer" starts west of Weißenkirchen in the Wachau and connects the Danube valley with the Waldviertel. Due to its scenic attractions, this route has always been a popular excursion route for motorists, cyclists and motorcyclists. After the end of the Semmering races, the Seiber even developed into a new motorsport highlight and is therefore also called the "Semmering of the Wachau". At present, the "Seiberer Bergpreis" is still held in classes ranging from bicycles, Vespa's, scooters, motorcycles, small cars to electric cars. A bit above Weißenkirchen there is a small parking lot with a beautiful view of the Danube region. Especially on nice clear days, you can see half of the Wachau at a glance from this spot.
