Voralpe

Mountain summit

Description

With its location, the Voralpe - also: Voralm - in the Ybbstaler Alps designates the so-called "Dreiländereck". This is the name given to the intersection of the provinces of Lower and Upper Austria and Styria. It lies between the two main peaks.

The higher peak of the Voralpe is the steep Stumpfmauer with an altitude of 1,770 meters on the border of Lower Austria and Upper Austria. The second peak is the broad Tanzboden at 1,727 meters. This lies on the border of Lower Austria and Styria.

The border triangle lies in the saddle of the Luckerten Wall in between. Since 2001, the significant point has been marked by the Dreiklang sculpture - a metal work of art with the coats of arms of the three federal states. It was solemnly blessed at a mountain fair in the summer of 2002.
