Description
The Waxenberg is a 500 meter high mountain in the municipality of Paudorf. Only about one kilometer away is the monastery Göttweig. The area on and around the Waxenberg is accessible by hiking trails.

From the summit cross of the Waxenberg you have a beautiful view of the monastery Göttweig and the surrounding communities. At the foot of the Waxenberg is the church of St. Blasien in the village of Klein Wien.
Hiking around the Waxenberg
A section of the Kremstal-Danube long-distance hiking trail leads from the village of Furth to Paudorf. An easy and family-friendly hike. Duration about one hour. This tour can be extended at will. The area offers many possibilities such as a visit to the redwood trees, a hike to the top of the Waxenberg, or up to the Göttweiger Berg (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Tips in the area:
- In Klein-Wien, opposite the church of St. Blasien, the family-run Landgasthof Schickh invites you to stop in. Here guests are spoiled with seasonal, down-to-earth and home-made dishes.
- Along the hiking trail, " Skulpturenweg" between Paudorf and Höbenbach impressive wooden sculptures can be admired. They are the result of the "International Wood Sculpture Symposium", which was established in 1997.
