Farm adventures at the big pond
At Forellenhof, the Erber family’s trout farm in Texing Valley
A venerable old quadrangular farmstead set in the scenic Mostviertel – and all kinds of animals to experience and learn about. At the Erber family’s trout farm, nature is very much within reach – especially when you are doing the milking yourself.
Amazing, isn’t it!
Learning while on vacation? Sure, but only if it’s fun! In the barn, for instance, you can earn yourself a milking certificate. We show you on a real cow where milk comes from. How to pull firmly but very carefully on the udder. And milk tastes best of all fresh from the cow. Sweet, really sweet. And in the chicken coop, sneak yourself an egg while you’re at it!
“Fish Tales” is another subject we teach here on the farm. Who will catch the biggest trout for lunch? The trout flitting around in our pond are just waiting for you to cast a worm in front of their mouth. And after fishing, you can swim a lap or two in the pond yourself.
Time to play to your heart’s content? We have so much space and so many activities to choose from: bouncing on a trampoline, riding a pony, climbing up towers, bicycling and much more. Our rabbits and goats love it when you pet them. And you can paint and make great artworks for your family as a way of thanking them for a great vacation.
