Schneeberg
Mountain summit, Scenic lookout
Description
At 2,076 meters, the Schneeberg is the highest mountain in Lower Austria and is located in the Vienna Alps. Together with the neighboring Rax, the massif is one of Vienna's local mountains. The summit can be reached particularly comfortably from Puchberg with the Schneebergbahn in Salamander design. At the Baumgartner stop, it is worth making a culinary stopover: here you can enjoy the sweet specialty of the famous Schneeberg Buchteln.
From the mountain station, a hiking tour leads to the Klosterwappen - the highest point of Schneeberg. Just a few steps away is the Fischerhütte: with its location at 2,049 meters above sea level, it is considered Lower Austria's highest refuge. In addition, numerous other huts and inns welcome their guests.
