Altenhof station
Train stationDescription
The nostalgically designed Altenhof station along the Kamptalbahn belongs to the market town of Schönberg am Kamp and was only established in 1991. In the direction of Sigmundsherberg, the course of the single-track line changes the river side twice. The bus shelter at the unmanned demand stop offers protection necessary due to weather conditions.
Get off
Not far from the station, in less than 10 minutes on foot, you can experience regional delicacies at the Heurigen Diewald in Altenhof with its inviting guest garden and culinary delights. On the way there you will pass the listed local chapel, which was built in 1780 and lavishly renovated in 1981.
History
In 1890, a turnout with 2 switches, 2 tracks and 2 electric distance signals was built here. The existing stationmaster's house served as the reception building. After the turnouts were abandoned in 1922, there was no active railway stop.
Due to the emphatic efforts of the local inhabitants, the ÖBB opened the optional stop in Altenhof at the end of 1990.
