The Baumgartner station is located along the Schneebergbahn at an altitude of 1396 metres. During opening hours, the stop serves an inn that serves the famous Schneebergwuchteln, which makes it even easier to enjoy the impressive view of the Elisabethkirchlein and the 1888-meter-high Waxriegel in the Schneeberg massif.
Route information
- The Baumgartner station is on the continuation line of the Schneebergbahn, one of three cogwheel railways still in existence in Austria. The station can be reached by the Salamander and Nostalgia trains of the Schneebergbahn.
History
At the important Baumgartner station, the steam locomotives had to be refuelled here at Baumgartner station with water specially brought up from the valley. The somewhat longer stopover at the station associated with this is still maintained to this day and is intended for the traditional stop at the inn.
