Bernhardsthal train station

Bernhardsthal station, located on the northern railway line, is situated in the northeast of Lower Austria in the district of Mistelbach. A ticket vending machine was installed in the waiting room of the reception building, a publicly accessible toilet facility is also located in the station building. The two platforms are connected by an underpass.

More than 75 car parking spaces are located in the adjoining Park & Ride facility and enable a convenient transfer to the train. Space has been created for 45 bicycles in the Bike & Ride facility.

Line connection

The border station Bernhardsthal is the final stop for many trains, as it is the last railway stop in Austria. Only every few hours a train continues to Lundenburg (Breclav), Czech Republic.

Regional trains from Vienna along the northern railway line to Vienna and Wr. Neustadt as well as to Breclav are served.
Buses further to Mistelbach and Vienna connect at the bus stop directly at the station.

History

In the 1830s, the Nordbahn was built as the first steam railway in the Austrian Empire. In 1871, the Bernhardsthal stop of the double-track main line was provisionally opened and only officially integrated into the railway traffic in 1877.

Bernhardsthal Ponds

As early as 1458, the Bernhardsthal landscape ponds were first mentioned in a deed of sale. This scenic oasis is only a 10-minute walk from Bernhardsthal railway station and offers recreation-seekers and nature-lovers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the idyllic wetlands at any time of year - be it with pedal boats and fishing piers in summer, or ice skating and curling in winter.

The two ponds are separated by the brick bridge of the Northern Railway, built in 1839, which is considered the oldest preserved structure in Austria's railway history.
