Cinema in the boiler house

Movie theater

Description

Cinema in the Kesselhaus. More than cinema!

As the only art-house cinema in Krems and the surrounding area, the Kino im Kesselhaus has been an important cultural venue for encounters and lively discussions about film culture since it was founded in 2005. The high chimney of the boiler house of the former Austria Tabakwerke from the 1920s (today Campus Krems) is the architectural and name-giving distinctive mark of the cinema, which is equipped with the most modern cinema technology.

From Wednesday to Sunday, the program includes selected works of current international and domestic feature and documentary films (in German, but also in the original version with subtitles), film classics, children's films, short, animated and experimental film programs.
Every Sunday afternoon, we show selected children's and youth films in the children's cinema (sometimes with an introduction or film discussion with our film educator). On special occasions, magicians (such as the fascinating Thommy Ten) and puppeteers (Christian Bochdansky and others) also appear at our cinema. For the very youngest cinema fans, a live picture book cinema is on the program.

On Sundays, our film bar serves an extended film breakfast to accompany the audience favorites of the respective cinema month, which is particularly popular (reservations recommended).

And in the hot summer weeks, the cinema moves outside: In a unique ambience amid vineyards and modern campus architecture, the open-air cinema at the Kesselhaus shows a fine selection of film highlights of the cinema year and previews of the upcoming season on the big screen in the open air.
