Drosendorf train station
Train stationDescription
The town of Drosendorf had always been anxious for a railway connection, but originally the line connection was planned via Wolfsbach. This idea was rejected in favour of Drosendorf in the course of the last route inspection and finally in 1908 the construction and operation of a standard-gauge local railway for the Retz-Drosendorf line was granted. The still existing design of the junction due to the originally planned new station building opposite is a reminder of this to this day.
The nostalgic station building welcomes the arriving guests and immediately conveys a cosy atmosphere. After the discontinuation of passenger traffic on the Northwest Railway line in 2001, the seasonal Reblaus Express makes this possible during the summer months. Although the train ride itself on the connecting route between the Weinviertel and Waldviertel regions is already a unique experience, each of the 10 stations also offers its own special features.
If you have travelled well by train, you can spend the night in the imposing Drosendorf Castle, from where you can start your hike or bike tour well fortified.
The historic old town of Drosendorf can be reached from the station in about 15 minutes on foot and with its old town houses and medieval town walls tells many a well-loved story. No matter if you start, finish or meet your journey: a visit to Drosendorf is worthwhile.
