Excursion destinations
From the train station it is only a few minutes' walk to the centre of the picturesque town of Hainburg an der Donau, from where the Heimoburg towers not far away. The medieval castle complex can be reached via a family-friendly path, or alternatively directly by car, and offers a magnificent panorama of the entire region once you reach the top.
Another historical milestone can be reached in less than half an hour's walk: the Röthelstein castle ruins. First mentioned in a document in 1180, the ruins of the former fortification are located on a rocky outcrop directly on the banks of the Danube and are worth a visit, especially because of the fantastic view.
