History
From 1949 to 1963 the station in Langau was still in operation as a coal loading station, which can still be seen today. The Schürfort was discovered in 1910 during the digging of a sand pit for the construction of the station. After several setbacks during mining and the pausing of any mining attempts during the First and Second World War, mining operations could be started in 1948 in the so-called "Austria Pit". While in 1956 the mining record of 255,044 tons was achieved, the coal production decreased in the course of the years. Oil and natural gas became more and more serious alternatives and in 1963 mining operations in Langau were thus discontinued.
