Hiking trail and summit cross
The Paudorf train station is the best starting point for a hike to the summit cross on the Waxenberg. An easy hiking route stretches along rustic forest paths, which reward you with a magnificent view of the nearby Göttweig Abbey and the nature-rich surroundings.
Sequoia in Paudorf
From 1877 to 1886 Adalbert Dungel was appointed forest master of Göttweig Abbey and planted several seeds of the tree species "Wellingtonia gigantea" in the soil. The resulting stands of giant sequoias can now be counted among the largest in Central Europe and can be seen on the plateau of the Eichberg to the south-east of Paudorf.
History
In 1889 the Krems railway line was opened, providing a connection from Herzogenburg to Krems on the Danube. In the same year the first fire station was built in Paudorf.
