Railway station St. Pölten Alpenbahnhof-Kaiserwald
Train stationDescription
After the main station in St. Pölten, the Alpenbahnhof is the first station of the Mariazell railway line as well as the Traisentalbahn. At the station there are two station buildings, which were built around 1905. The Park & Ride facility in the immediate vicinity offers parking for over 50 cars, the adjacent Bike & Ride facility includes 18 parking spaces for bicycles.
Tip: There is also a nextbike rental station directly at the station. The bikes are available in Lower Austria from April to mid-November. More information can be found on the website https://www.mostviertel.at/en/all-sights/a-mariazell-railway, or in the nextbike app.
The railway crossing created in Werkstätten Straße was equipped with a new safety system as part of the renovation. The entire station was made barrier-free in mid-2018 and equipped with guidance systems for the blind.
Connections
Direct train connections twice an hour from St. Pölten to Schrambach and Hainfeld are offered along the route of the Traisentalbahn. Trains and special trains are also operated along the Mariazellerbahn. Due to the nearby bus stop in the Alte Reichsstraße, the station is also connected to bus lines in the direction of Traisen and Ober-Grafendorf.
