Station Ober-Grafendorf
Train stationDescription
The station Ober-Grafendorf is located on the route of the Mariazellerbahn. Space has been created for 16 cars in the Park & Ride facility, and the Bike & Ride station, which is also connected, offers parking for 31 bicycles. In the immediate vicinity of the station there are several bus lines offering connections to St. Pölten, Wieselburg and St. Margarethen/Sierning.
The only roundhouse of a narrow gauge railway in Austria is located on site. Since 1987, the former boiler house has served as the headquarters of the local railway club. A tour of the building for groups is possible by appointment.
How to shorten the waiting time
The building of the Ober-Grafendorf station was converted into a brewery building. Already in autumn 2013, the renovation of the station building was started and so the first station beer brewery in Austria was created by Wolfgang Stix. The location is often used as a backdrop for various celebrations and it is also possible to attend seminars on the subject of brewing beer. Special attention is paid - even more than already - to the purchase of regional products.
History
Since the Ober-Grafendorf station was first opened on 4 July 1989, there have been numerous alterations and extensions. To the station, which originally consisted of only a reception building and the magazine, workshops buildings, halls and numerous other facilities were gradually added until the entire workshop moved to St. Pölten. The track facilities were also continuously renovated over the years. It was not until 1999, when freight traffic on the line was completely stopped, that the station presents itself as it is today.
