Station Pleißing-Waschbach
Train stationDescription
On the route of the Reblaus Express, Pleißing Waschbach is one of 10 stations in the municipality of Hardegg . In 2001, after the discontinuation of passenger service, the journey was resumed and has since been run as a seasonal nostalgia railway by the Nostalgiebahn, complete with Heurigen wagon. Until freight traffic was discontinued in 2010, the Pleißing-Waschbach station was an important loading point for straw and round timber goods.
The station Pleißing-Waschbach is considered a popular starting point for an extensive hike in the National Park Thayatal, also for a bike ride in the green north the station is located.
Along the tracks on the bike
On the Reblaus-Radl-Weg you can experience the impressive landscape of the Wein- and Waldviertel and cross the former northern railway line several times. Bicycles may be carried free of charge on the Reblaus Express, so depending on the point of entry, part of the impressive route can also be enjoyed on and alongside the tracks.
Likewise, in around 30 minutes by bike on a 10 km tour from the station, you can reach Austria's only mother-of-pearl manufactory in Felling, a destination that provides entertainment with a gift shop, children's playground and the largest mother-of-pearl button in the world.
