In the municipality of the same name in the district of Melk in the Mostviertel region, Pöchlarn station is located on the south bank of the Danube. On the platforms, which are accessible throughout and serve a total of five tracks, covered seating has been installed. A ticket vending machine has been installed in the waiting room for ticket purchases.
Over 350 parking spaces for cars and mopeds in the Park & Ride facility and more than 235 parking spaces for bicycles in the Bike & Ride station ensure a convenient and uncomplicated transfer to the train.
Route information
Pöchlarn station is located on the Westbahn line, and there is a transfer station on site. Furthermore, the station represents the beginning of the branch line Pöchlarn-Kienberg-Gaming, the so-called Erlauftalbahn.
- Regional express trains to Wien Westbahnhof and Amstetten, as well as regional trains to
- St. Pölten are served along the Westbahn.
- On the route of the Erlauftalbahn, regional trains can be found as far as Scheibbs.
- Bus connections allow connections to Marbach and Erlauf.
- At the station there is also the possibility to take a shared taxi (AST).
History
After the granting of the concession for the construction of the Erlauftalbahn in 1874 and the execution by the "K.u.K. private niederösterreichische Südwestbahn", the construction was completed in 1877. In 1898 the line was extended by the narrow-gauge Ybbstalbahn.
The rail service for passenger transport was discontinued in December 2010 from Scheibbs to Kienberg-Gaming and replaced by a bus service. The Ybbstalbahn is also no longer operated since December, but parts of the line are served by the Citybahn Waidhofen.
