Pöchlarn railroad station is located on the south bank of the Danube in the municipality of the same name in the district of Melk in the Mostviertel region. Covered seating has been installed on the accessible platforms, which serve a total of five tracks. A ticket machine has been installed in the waiting room for ticket purchases.
Over 350 parking spaces for cars and mopeds in the Park & Ride facility and more than 235 parking spaces for bicycles in the Bike & Ride station ensure a convenient and uncomplicated transfer to the train.
Route information
Pöchlarn station is located on the Westbahn line, with a transfer point on site. The station also marks the start of the Pöchlarn-Kienberg-Gaming branch line, the so-called Erlauftalbahn.
- Regional express trains to Vienna Westbahnhof and Amstetten, as well as regional trains to
- St. Pölten are served along the Westbahn.
- There are regional trains to Scheibbs on the Erlauftalbahn line.
- Bus connections provide connections to Marbach and Erlauf.
- It is also possible to take a shared cab (AST) at the station.
History of the station
After the concession for the construction of the Erlauftalbahn was granted in 1874 and carried out by the "K.u.K. private Niederösterreichische Südwestbahn", construction was completed in 1877. In 1898, the line was extended to include the narrow-gauge Ybbstalbahn.
Passenger rail services were discontinued from Scheibbs to Kienberg-Gaming in December 2010 and replaced by a bus service. The Ybbstalbahn has also not been operated since December, but parts of the route are served by the Citybahn Waidhofen.
