The large reception building at Purgstall station in the middle of the market town of the same name in Lower Austria's Mostviertel region is a stately sight. Covered seating with a view of the beautiful surrounding region, as well as equipped sanitary facilities make the stay at the station in the district of Scheibbs a very pleasant one.
Over 42 parking spaces for cars and mopeds are available for those transferring to the train at the on-site Park & Ride facility. More than 35 bicycles find room in the Bike & Ride Station.
Route information
The stop Purgstall an der Erlauf is located along the line of the Erlauftalbahn from Pöchlarn to Scheibbs.
- Trains on their way to Pöchlarn and St. Pölten stop here.
- Trains to St. Pölten also stop here.
- Connecting buses to Scheibbs and Amstetten can be reached directly at the station forecourt.
Museum art
If you enjoy a walk of only 5 minutes from Purgstall station over the Erlauf bridge, you will reach the Purgstall Museum in the Ledererhaus. All procedures and work steps for leather production are shown in the form of many exhibits - always accompanied by the beautiful location directly on the Erlauf River. Alternating special exhibitions on current topics invite you to come back again and again.

The extended duration of the route of over 4 hours is well worth the effort, and the idyllic views along the consistently firm and easy paths provide great enjoyment for family members of all ages. The trail can be started directly from Purgstall railway station, and there are numerous entertaining and culinary stops along the way.
