Station St. Veit a. d. Gölsen

Train station

Description

The station building at the St. Veit an der Gölsen stop is no longer in use, but it still blends in with the station and provides the backdrop for the compact waiting shelter at the barrier-free station stop. 33 vehicles can be parked in the adjacent Park & Ride facility and a Bike & Ride station has been set up for 22 bicycles.

Connections to regional trains in the direction of Hainfeld, Schrambach and St. Pölten main station are provided every 60 minutes. The nearest bus stop with connections to Ramsau, Lilienfeld, Vienna and Mariazell is less than a 5-minute walk away.

Bike tour for explorers

The train station St. Veit an der Gölsen is the starting point of an observation-rich bike tour, which is also suitable for children. Along the tour there are wonderful views and insights on the nature-loving route - the Gölsen is always there. Passing numerous resting points such as playgrounds and wine taverns, you will reach Hainfeld, where you are sure to find one or two places to stop for refreshments.

History

During a train ride along the Gölsen one enjoys the Lower Austrian alpine foothills only too much. Even though passenger traffic was not the main focus when the original line of the Leobersdorferbahn was built. Rather, the surrounding businesses, which had settled in the course of time, were to benefit from a connection to the high-performance railway line. However, necessary maintenance work on the part of the railway line was neglected and so in 2001 passenger transport was only established as far as Hainfeld.
