Route information
Formerly operated as the Ybbstalbahn, the narrow-gauge line has been operated as Citybahn Waidhofen an der Ybbs since it was taken over by NÖVOG - Niederösterreichische Verkehrsorganisationsges.m.b.H.. Over a length of 3.1 kilometers, the colorful trains of the Citybahn make six stops, connecting the Waidhofen an der Ybbs train station with the town center.
Here, the Waidhofen/Ybbs Citybahn trains stop every half hour on weekdays, and every hour on Sundays and public holidays, to Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Pestalozzistraße.
Tickets can be purchased online, directly on the train, or also at the ticket machines of ÖBB.
Circular walk Waidhofen an der Ybbs
The main square in Waidhofen an der Ybbs can be reached on foot in fifteen minutes. Numerous circular walks around the beautiful town start from there, as does a route that passes through Windhaag and visits the Höritzau Mill. Not only the culinary waypoints are inviting here - the good three-and-a-half-hour hike leads across beautifully rural forest and meadow landscapes with fantastic views of a region with the highest quality of life.
