Station Zissersdorf
Train stationDescription
The well-preserved façade with the large stop sign is resplendent from the pretty station building in Zissersdorf. With the construction of the railway line in 1908, an economically essential connection to the surrounding regional communities was created. However, passenger traffic on this, the north-west railway line from Retz to Drosendorf, was discontinued in 2001.
The railway line, which is steeped in history and has been shaped by the natural landscape, was considered far too bad to be abandoned or even demolished - rightly and fortunately so.
With the opening of the Reblaus Express, the line with its 10 stations between Retz and Drosendorf was given a new lease of life. With the Heurigenwaggon and an extra compartment for children, an exciting attraction for families, hikers and cyclists was created.
As a starting point for a pilgrimage on foot to the little church of Maria Schnee along the Thumeritzbach stream, the stop at Zissersdorf is the perfect place to get off. The route then continues along streams and forests to Drosendorf, where you can stroll through the magnificent old town.
The outward and return journey to Zissersdorf can be easily arranged with the scheduled times of the Reblaus Express. It is always worth taking a look at the seasonal Reblaus Packages, which promise a summer full of variety and views.
