Station Zöbing
Train stationDescription
The charming waiting hut with shelter of the station Zöbing is located in the municipality of Langenlois and offers a stop along the single-track platform on the route of the Kamptalbahn.
The Riesling village is situated on the Heiligenstein, which can already be seen from the train and, as a ridge and foothill of the Manhartsberg, is probably the most important vineyard in the Kamptal wine-growing region. The open southern slope in combination with the Pannonian vegetation is responsible for the fact that it has been used for viticulture since the Middle Ages.
Summit climber
In not quite an hour's walk from the Zöbing train station, you can reach the Kamptalwarte located on the Heiligenstein. The impressive view stretches all the way to the Tulln basin and, on a clear day, even to the foothills of the Alps and the Vienna Woods. In the course of an enjoyable hike, you can stroll through numerous vineyards, the atmospheric cellar alleys invite you to enjoy culinary moments.
History
Shortly after the opening of the Kamptal Railway in 1889, the Kamptalwarte was built in 1897 by the Austrian Tourist Club. The lookout tower is still owned by the club today. In the years that followed, extensive renovations were carried out, and since 2002 the lookout has even been illuminated at night - thanks to the installation of a small solar and wind power system.
