Stockerau train station

Train station

Description

Modern and spacious is the appearance of the station in Stockerau, which was completely renovated in 2011. The building was erected at the beginning of the 1980s - its shape was originally inspired by the Wotruba Church built around 10 years earlier in Wien-Mauer.

The revitalization created a barrier-free and modern station area with connections to the S3 and S4 of the Vienna rapid transit system, as well as the Vienna bus lines. The Park & Ride facility with almost 1000 parking spaces, which has been enriching the station since 2010, also offers smooth connections.

Tip: There is a nextbike rental station directly at the station. The bikes are available in Lower Austria from April to mid-November. More information can be found on the website www.nextbike.at/de/niederoesterreich, or in the nextbike app.

Excursion destinations

Starting from the station, you can reach the Belvedereschlössel cultural centre in just a few minutes' walk, where exhibitions are also held on a regular basis. The Schlössl also contains an extensive library and a charming palace garden - both facilities invite you to stroll around.

On the way to the automobile museum, which is not far away, a visit to the state-awarded KuK Hofzuckerbäcker L. Heiner is almost obligatory, the sweet delicacies are hard to resist - luckily you don't have to.

Contemporary witness

Stockerau was connected to the Nordwestbahn in 1841. On the occasion of the opening of the line in 1842, a tree was planted opposite the station portal and still bears witness to the events of that time.
