Connections
- Trains of the rapid transit line S40 along the Tullnerfelder Bahn to St. Pölten main station and to Herzogenburg

Viehofen Castle
In about 15 minutes walking distance from the train station you can reach Viehofen Castle. Until the construction of the parish church in today's district of St. Pölten, the castle's own chapel was used as such. Although the historic building cannot be visited from the inside, it is clearly visible from the main street. A visit to the nearby Zwieselbauer restaurant can be wonderfully combined with a walk around the castle.
Recreation area
The Viehofner Lakes recreation area is less than a 10-minute walk from the train station. The natural landscape at the Small Viehofner Lake can be enjoyed on the paved path around the lake and is under nature protection due to the important breeding of birds. The Great Viehofner Lake can be enjoyed on hot days for swimming and relaxing.
Tip: A nextbike rental station has been set up at Seenerlebnis Viehofen. There, after a one-time registration, bicycles can be rented very comfortably from April to mid-November.
History
Viehofen experienced an economic boom around 1885 with the opening of the railway. In 1898 the first church was built there, making the then independent community one of the industrial centres of St. Pölten. It was not until 1923 that Viehofen was incorporated into what is now the capital of Lower Austria.
