Description
Schloss Wilfersdorf has been in the hands of the Liechtenstein family since 1440. Today it is open for visitors with museum exhibits, as well as a Heuriger wine tavern and wine store for lovers of the finer things in life. The northern side wing of the impressive complex is home to Schloss Wilfersdorf’s local history museum. Exhibits include interesting pieces made from elephant and rhinoceros bones, artefacts from the Neolithic period, farming equipment, historic home furnishings and much more besides. The Liechtenstein exhibition – the central attraction – in the main wing tells the history of the Liechtenstein princes. Schloss Wilfersdorf offers various culinary highlights to go with its cultural treats. On the weekends, the ancient vaulted cellars of the stately home provide the stunning setting for a Heuriger wine tavern run by several winegrowing families. The neighbouring wine store carries a wide selection of regional specialties as well as wines from the estate of the current prince of Liechtenstein. The children’s playground in the old moat is always popular with younger visitors.
