Nature hotels and organic gardeners
Hotel and model garden in one: The hotels in Lower Austria with the most garden space cook with fresh organic ingredients – and provide lush green settings for short holiday getaways
When it comes to the wellbeing of their guests, hotels increasingly rely on their own gardens. They are tended organically, serve as oases of tranquility for all – and play a big role in the kitchen, too: Vegetables and herbs are picked fresh right from the garden.
Taking an afternoon nap in the shade of snarly barked trees? Or snacking on berries straight from the bush? Welcome to Lower Austrian hotels with their own organic gardens!
Window to a nature garden
Maria and Josef Huber from Gästehaus Huber in Arbesbach are passionate gardeners. Their garden is even home to beehives. Josef has been known to let guests with a special interest in bees peak over his shoulders when he is working with them! Molzbachhof has a paradise garden where guests relax at the energy island in the swimming pond and the rustic wood hut. The adjoining cottage and berry garden features heirloom plants. Visitors are welcome to snack directly from the bushes and patches.
Tasty organic cycle
About 1,000 different plants flourish in the gardens of the nature hotels Steinschalerhof and Steinschaler Dörfl. But the valuable organic oases were created not just for rest and relaxation. The organic vegetables, fruit and wild herbs in them are taken straight to the kitchen and then served to guests as down-to-earth or vegan dishes – fresh and sustainable.
