8: On a journey of discovery
The route leads along the Traisen river to varied attractions which can be seen from the fish, frog and bird's eye view.
At the Traisen river, you can go on a circular route on this section of the Traisental-Radweges in St. Pölten. The route takes you along the little river and provides plenty of opportunities to take a break from your bike. E.g. the Viehofner Seen, where you can get off your bikes and switch to a pedal boat or a rowing boat. Or you ride past the wooden walkway on to the Feldmühle nature trail to see the frogs, butterflies and yellow water lilies. If you want to, you can climb on to the observation tower or take a break at the ”Seedose”. The journey continues to take you past large playgrounds up to the Landhausviertel (State Parliament Quarter). There you can visit the Lower Austria Museum with its great aquariums and terrariums or you can climb up the Klangturm (tower in St. Pölten) and enjoy a bird’s eye-view of the regional capital. At the end of the route, the hungry and thirsty bikers can enjoy a refreshment at the “Naturfreunde Bootshaus” restaurant.
